Landscaping
It is important to consider the natural landscape during construction, maintenance and relandscaping. Wherever possible, you should use endemic plants and encourage native wildlife, not only does this remain faithful to the appearance of the landscape but also helps avoid the potentially harmful introduction of alien species to the local ecosystem.
By using native plant species, you may also be able to minimise your horticultural costs; local plants are adapted to environmental conditions and also local pests therefore there is less need for invasive irrigation systems and the use of harmful pesticides. Non-local species should be analysed in terms of any potentially negative impacts on the biodiversity they may bring by being introduced into the local environment.
